A few of our favorite San Fran things…

City of San Francisco Skyline from The Exploratorium

Riddle me this: What’s seven miles by seven miles, home to over 800,000 people, 85,000+ businesses, and more than 7,800 buildings?

Yep, you guessed it — San Francisco!

Our founder, Colson Griffith, recently got to share some thoughts on this iconic city over on Redfin’s blog, comparing San Francisco to Seattle

Writing that feature got us reminiscing about San Francisco and just how much it means to us.

For starters, there’s an energy in the air here — it’s the heartbeat of innovation. This is where The Vanity Portrait Studio was born, and it's where our largest team operates. Being in a city that constantly pushes boundaries is truly inspiring, especially in the world of events. It’s where “firsts” happen and where people go, “Wow, I’ve never seen anything like this!” And honestly, it’s hard not to be excited when you’re part of that creative, dynamic vibe.

Our Favorite Hidden Gem

If you're looking for a truly unexpected spot in SF, we’ve got a favorite. Imagine escaping into an indoor tropical paradise, complete with rain, thunder, and lightning — while sipping a cocktail and grooving to a live band on a floating boat. Sounds unreal, right? Well, it’s real, and it's called The Tonga Room & Hurricane Bar. Head downstairs in the iconic Fairmont San Francisco, and you’ll find this totally unique gem that feels like it’s from another world.

Our Favorite Escape

This is probably the quietest place in the city and it smells like a spa. Lover’s Lane in the Presidio is the kind of place where you can almost hear the silence. With its winding path through a forest of eucalyptus, cypress, and pines (planted by the Army back in the 1800s), it’s a serene escape that feels miles away from the city.
